Tucked down an unmarked King Street stairwell, this moody subterranean steakhouse delivers world-class beef and old-school hospitality. Patrons tuck their phones into table pouches and settle into plush booths for an entirely unplugged dinner. Devotees line up for the signature double-patty smash burger—caramelised beef butchered at their sibling venue and sliced tableside—or chase the rare spinalis cut. When available, roughly ten portions of the Prime Rib French Dip appear daily, served alongside rich bone marrow jus and crisp house pickles. Plates of calamansi oysters cut through decadent sides like truffle mac and cheese, rounded out by a finishing pour over the Bourbon Baba.

Why Choose The Gidley
Subterranean steakhouse dining defined by secret entrance mystique, intentional digital disconnection, and acclaimed burger service.
Discrete Speakeasy Arrival
The subterranean entrance lacks overt signage, creating a thrill of discovery as guests step down from King Street into an intimate subterranean space.
Finding the hidden basement door at The Gidley feels like stepping into an exclusive secret club.
Denison Tarsitano Crafted Burger Presentation
The venue's celebrated steakhouse burger features house-butchered beef cooked to medium, sliced tableside and served with tailored ingredient storytelling.
The waitress actually cut the burger in half for me at the table - a much-appreciated touch, because this burger is unbelievably juicy.
Denison Tarsitano Screen-Free Dining Environment
Guests store mobile phones in table pouches upon seating, freeing dining companions from digital screens to engage in genuine conversation.
He was quite refreshing looking across the room with no one staring at screens.
Brett Spencer Uninterrupted Table Conversation
Eliminating phone photography and notifications allows tables to turn their full attention to companion discussions and shared meal courses.
Phones taken away are a bonus, we actually enjoyed the food & conversation.
Osamah Alawwam Walk-In Bar Accessibility
Guests arriving without a reservation can bypass dining room waits by walking in for bar and lounge seating with cocktail and burger service.
This place gets fully booked in advance however they accept walk ins for the bar where they have a smaller menu (including the burger).
Pauline Malcouronne Seamless Lounge Hospitality
Spontaneous visits after shows or evening outings are accommodated in the lounge with attentive hospitality and the signature menu.
From food to service to the little details, The Gidley made two walk-ins feel completely taken care of.

Denison Tarsitano Ribeye cap
The ribeye cap (spinalis dorsi) is something truly special — incredibly rare to find done this well. Juicy, intensely flavourful, and cooked with absolute precision, it’s a cut that showcases real mastery of the craft.
Pouria Aryan Prime Rib French Dip
also tried the “Prime Rib French Dip” served with crispy onion rings and a rich bone marrow jus (8.7/10) and it’s limited availability item.
