Mate's TableFood tips and first-hand experience from the people who know.
Check the exact hotel address against the current airport rail route; Darling Harbour itself is not a single train station. A walk or short transfer to a direct station may be easy, but compare it with a door-to-door taxi if carrying bags.
If both travellers need independent access, compare two small plans with one shared hotspot.
Check current Cricket NSW and local club fixture listings for your exact dates; the main summer season may be over by late April. A smaller match can still be interesting if one is scheduled.
Check current cafés near your arrival point and plan the beach walk around a meal that is open that day. Balmoral generally has more obvious dining options than a quiet beach stop, but verify the exact venue and walking route.
Compare current portfolios, full session fees and delivery terms, then agree on a harbour location that suits the family's mobility and timing. Ask for a written plan for rain or strong wind.
A bridge pedestrian walk offers different angles, but confirm the route and any temporary access changes.
Check the short-range forecast before choosing coastal walks.
Check whether the original event offers a revised time before committing to nonrefundable alternatives.
Ask the hotel for current partner parking, then compare nearby garages by overnight access, height limit and total multi-day cost. Street parking in a busy historic area may be time-limited and unreliable.
A paid viewing area is only worthwhile if its exit timing still allows sleep and airport travel.
Book or hail a licensed taxi sized for your passengers and bags, and state the luggage count when ordering. A larger vehicle is worthwhile if the suitcases will not fit safely in a standard boot.
Plan by line, direction and live departure board rather than memorising a platform number. Platforms can change with operations, so check the station display or official journey planner when you arrive.
