About Oborozuki

Overlooking Circular Quay, Oborozuki pairs avant-garde Japanese technique with classic French craft for serious waterfront dining. Tucked on Level 3, the room balances skyline harbor scenes with focused culinary theatrics. Diners lean in for courses like kingfish with puffed rice, sweet corn finished with parmesan foam, and tender Gundagai lamb. The hospitality leans deeply into genuine omotenashi—sommeliers roll out an illuminated trunk so you can select your own crystal sake glass before pours arrive from an ice-chilled dispenser. Alongside the multi-course dining room, private rooms run dedicated teppanyaki menus where chefs cook over open grills just minutes from the Opera House. Milestones wrap up with thoughtful house touches, including tableside desserts presented beside a tiny wooden music box.

  • Japanese-French Dining: Courses match French technique with Japanese discipline, from kingfish with dashi and puffed rice to Gundagai lamb and Maremma duck.
  • Sake Trunk Service: Sommeliers present an illuminated trunk for guests to choose crystal glasses, pouring chilled sake from specialized table apparatuses.
  • Teppanyaki & Private Rooms: Dedicated private rooms host chef-led teppanyaki counters alongside the central multi-course dining room.
  • Celebration Keepsakes: Special occasions wrap with complimentary tableside treats accompanied by a wooden music box.

  • Artistic Theatrics Across Every Course

Courses blend visual theatrics and artistic craftsmanship to elevate each dining presentation into memorable table drama.

Each dish was like a work of art and portion sizes were good. The kingfish with the puff rice was a nice combination. The beef was seasoned well and melted in your mouth. The staff explained each dish well and there was even a little bit of theatrics with each dish which was a nice touch.

There was even a cute happy birthday music box that came out with the complimentary birthday treat and staff even offered to take photos of us before we left.
