Book NowAbout Malay Chinese Noodle Bar
Sydney CBD workers brave the Sydney Place crush for the city's punchiest laksa and intense Har Mee. The old Hunter Street institution brings high-heat hawker energy to its Circular Quay digs. No frills here—lines snake past the counter, but bowls fly out in fifteen minutes. Long-time regulars make a beeline for the seafood laksa, arriving with a deep orange santan broth loaded with plump prawns and fried tofu puffs soaking up chilli heat. The Har Mee runs just as deep, packing concentrated prawn stock beneath tender pork slices and a heavy spoonful of sambal. Take your tray out to the shared courtyard tables, slurp quick, and pass your empty bowl straight through the hole in the wall.
- Signature Laksa: Deep orange, coconut-rich broth piled with plump king prawns, chicken, and broth-soaked tofu puffs.
- Rich Har Mee: Intensely concentrated prawn noodle broth served with tender pork slices and fiery sambal.
- Hawker Pace: Fast-moving lunch queues with shared outdoor courtyard seating and counter self-service.

Proven Midday Satisfaction and Heritage Flavours
Why Sydney diners choose Malay Chinese Noodle Bar for midday laksa and traditional hawker broths
Richly Balanced Coconut Santan Broths
The kitchen simmers a thick, balanced santan broth infused with deep spice and coconut richness, delivering comforting heat in every bowl.
The laksa served is perfect combination , well balance of santan (coconut milk), spice and hot level. Milky, thick just like a few best in Singapore and Malaysia.
Gary Song Deeply Aromatic Har Mee Prawn Broth
Specialty prawn noodle broths deliver a concentrated seafood punch paired with fiery sambal dollops that intensify the profile.
Then with trepidation the next time I ordered the Har Mee, wondering if I should stick with the laksa. But it was also really excellent - a very rich prawn broth with excellent toppings.
Ian M Unbroken Tradition Across CBD Relocations
Longtime diners find comfort in knowing recipes for staples like laksa and char kway teow remain faithful and unchanged across city relocations.
They've moved 3 or 4 times around the cbd. But their food hasn't changed.
Tess Blanco Evocative Malaysian Hawker Nostalgia
The familiar flavours and vintage-style hawker cooking reliably stir cherished personal memories of traditional Malaysian street food.
Love the settings of this shop as it reminds me of olden days back in Malaysia. Thank you for making such authentic har mee. It brings back memories when I eat it.
Milo Bubble Rapid Queue Turnaround for Midday Lunch
High-volume kitchen stations turn lengthy lunchtime crowds into warm bowls on tables in around fifteen minutes.
15 minutes from being number 20 in line to sitting with my bowl, which is fantastic.
Gleb Markov Efficient Quick-Service Counter Workflow
An agile counter-order and call-and-collect workflow ensures meals emerge hot within minutes for fast dining across indoor and courtyard tables.
Always a queue but the line goes quick and the food is served quick. The food was incredible, the broth delightful.
