About Austrian Club Restaurant

Tucked into Frenchs Forest, this volunteer-run alpine chalet serves up generous Austrian comfort food and cold steins of imported beer. Long communal tables fill with groups sharing plates of crisp schnitzel and thick-cut roast pork, framed by red chequered cloths and traditional folk tunes. Regulars treat it like a suburban Gasthof—an unpretentious community hall where servers wear traditional dirndls and kitchen orders run on hearty portions. Advance planning pays off for the whole pork knuckle, slow-roasted with crisp crackling and paired with caraway-spiced sauerkraut and bread dumplings. At the bar, taps pour Austrian brews like Stiegl alongside chilled carafes of Grüner Veltliner.

  • Pre-ordered Schweinshaxe: Reserve ahead for whole roast pork knuckle with crackling, served beside sauerkraut and dumplings.
  • Alpine Gasthof atmosphere: Volunteer-run community hall with alpine decor, folk music, and staff in traditional dirndls.
  • Austrian taps and wine: Cold pours of imported Austrian beers on tap alongside carafes of Grüner Veltliner.

Before you head over

Practical advice on reservations, portions, and seating for your visit

  • Pre-Order the Pork Knuckle in Advance

Whole roasted pork knuckle requires pre-ordering at least a day in advance when you reserve your table, as it is prepared specially and cannot be ordered on the fly.

  • Plan for Substantial Portion Sizes

Portions of schnitzels, roasts, and share platters are notably massive; consider pacing your orders or sharing family platters rather than doubling up on starters and mains.

  • Choose the Right Seating Area for Your Group

The split-level hall features an elevated upper section better suited for smaller tables, while the ground floor offers spacious long tables and step-free wheelchair accessibility.
