About Concordia Club

Real-deal German club dining thrives on the Marrickville fringe—pure Gemütlichkeit without the novelty beer-hall gimmicks. Sign in at the front desk, claim a spot along the communal tables, and prepare for serious heft. Longtime patrons head straight for the oversized pork knuckle—crackling that loudly bangs under a knife edge, yielding tender meat over heaps of mash and braised red cabbage. Imported draft lagers arrive cold by the schooner, while the dessert counter dispenses warm apple strudel under a dusting of powdered sugar.

  • Colossal Schweinshaxe: Oversized pork knuckle roasted with loud, knife-snapping crackling and tender meat, plated alongside potato mash and braised red cabbage.
  • Hefty Heritage Classics: Traditional schnitzels, spätzle, and double-frankfurter sausage plates dished out in portions hearty enough to require a takeaway container.
  • Imported & Local Drafts: A rotating lineup of imported German brews and local Festbier craft lagers pulled fresh from the bar taps.
  • Community Grounds & Lawn Space: Dating back to 1883, the venue pairs retro community hall charm with adjoining green lawns where kids play and dogs rest on the veranda.

  • Genuine Cultural Heritage

German-speaking staff, community cake counters, and deli goods create a welcoming cultural hub devoid of commercial tropes.

It adds to the atmosphere that that half of the staff is speaking German so you get more of a feel for the place.

Before you head over

Practical guidance on club procedures, weekend timing, and table reservations.

  • Bring ID for Club Sign-In

Because Concordia operates as a historic community club, all patrons must show ID and register at the reception desk upon entry. Note your assigned table number before heading up, as all food and drink orders are placed directly at the bar counter rather than table-side.

  • Check Bistro Hours and Early Call

The bistro is only open Friday through Sunday and does not trade all day. Evening service wraps up on the earlier side—with last drinks called around 8:15pm—so plan an early arrival if you want to ensure popular dishes like bread dumplings do not sell out before you order.

  • Book Ahead for Groups and Veranda Seating

Long communal tables fill up quickly on weekends, especially during Sunday accordion performances. If you are bringing a larger group or prefer a quieter setting while children play on the adjacent lawns, reserve an undercover veranda table in advance to guarantee your spot.
