About Kura

Kura delivers hearty bowls of ramen, neat bento boxes, and crisp Korean fried chicken in a relaxed Pyrmont nook. Tucked away on Harris Street, this cozy counter turns out steaming donburi and sashimi alongside beef bulgogi and house-made kimchi. Tables turn swiftly—diners catching shows at The Star clock meals arriving in under ten minutes without skimping on craft. Evenings take on an easy izakaya hum, whether you snag a stool inside or settle outside with your dog over a chicken katsu don and a draft beer.

  • Cross-Border Comfort Fare: Steaming ramen, sashimi bento boxes, and crisp sushi share the kitchen with Korean fried chicken and beef bulgogi.
  • Swift Pre-Show Turnaround: Dishes hit tables in under ten minutes, keeping dinner relaxed even on tight show nights near The Star.
  • Pet-Friendly Outdoor Seating: Open-air footpath tables welcome dogs alongside casual bowls of udon and donburi.

Why Choose Kura

Why Pyrmont diners choose Kura for comforting Japanese-Korean staples, quick theatre bites, and relaxed outdoor dining

  • Satisfying Japanese Comfort Staples

Guests consistently receive generously portioned bento boxes, ramen, and sets prepared with fresh ingredients at accessible everyday prices.

The bento box is definitely a highlight and a great choice if you want a bit of everything. It comes with a well-balanced selection including sashimi, protein, rice, salad, and miso soup — perfect for one person and very satisfying.

  • Dual Japanese and Korean Comfort Menu

The kitchen curates an extensive crossover menu featuring both authentic Japanese fare and acclaimed Korean specialties like bulgogi and crispy Korean fried chicken.

The chicken is crispy, juicy, and full of flavor, and every menu item we’ve tried has been absolutely delicious. On top of that, the owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, and the service is always excellent.

  • Paced for Pre-Theatre Diners

Diners heading to evening performances at nearby Star Pyrmont rely on sub-ten-minute kitchen turnaround times to dine comfortably without rushing.

Extra points for the fast service - I think I waited all of 10 mins for it to arrive. I was actually pressed for time and paid when I ordered just in case I had to run, and they served me in a takeout bowl, as you can notice. It was very thoughtful! But I didn’t have to, cos I INHALED the entire bowl and made it to my show in time :D

We went to Kura before seeing a show at The Star so didn't have a lot of time. The staff made our meals quickly and they were delicious!!

The place has such a cozy and relaxed vibe, and I love that I can bring my dog and sit outside. There are so many great menu options, so it never gets boring.
