About Pan Roma Restaurant

Run by the same family since 1973, this unpretentious Leichhardt stalwart serves soulful, home-style Italian cooking anchored by the matriarch in the kitchen. Laminate tables and paper napkins set an honest 1970s tone where diners return for cloud-soft gnocchi in rich gorgonzola or bolognese, swordfish dressed in capers and tomatoes off the blackboard specials, and veal saltimbocca finished with light, espresso-soaked tiramisu.

  • Signature pillowy gnocchi: House-made pillows tossed in gorgonzola or rich meat sauce, soft enough to melt instantly.
  • Five decades of family recipes: Operated by the original family since 1973 with home-style cooking anchored in the kitchen.
  • Classic trattoria atmosphere: Modest prices, low corkage, and rotating blackboard dishes like swordfish with capers.

  • Unchanged 1970s Leichhardt Heritage

Continuously operated since 1973 by the same founding family, preserving the warmth and tradition of old-school Sydney Italian dining.

The place has not changed since the early days which is awesome. In saying that Pan Roma is still one of the original Italian resturants still in leichhardt and since it opened back in the early 70s it is still run by the original family.

Whilst the decor doesn't dazzle you as you enter (think laminate tables with green and red paper napkins), The food certainly does.
