About Odd Culture Newtown

Odd Culture brings bold fermentation accents and relaxed bistro energy straight to the thick of King Street. Two distinct levels anchor the space—perch at the ground-floor open kitchen counter to watch the line work, or settle into an upstairs booth for a slower evening. regulars gravitate toward the well-made martinis and an extensive, eclectic wine roster that leans well outside the ordinary. On the table, the kitchen delivers sharp, unpretentious cooking built for sharing: potato chips dragged through rich chicken liver pâté, charred bavette steak pooled in burnt garlic and egg yolk sauce, and savoury-sweet blood pancakes. Dinner finishes on an unexpected note with a dark, golden syrup-rich chocolate pudding cut through with soya sauce.

  • Vibrant Two-Level Space: Downstairs offers casual bar seating and open kitchen views, while upstairs provides booth dining for banquets.
  • Inventive Share Plates: Features creative plates like bavette steak in burnt garlic sauce, liver pâté with potato chips, and blood pancakes.
  • Curated Drinks Roster: Extensive selection of global wines, local craft beers on tap, and classic martinis.

  • Split-Level Dining Spaces

The multi-level venue layout offers a vibrant, lively ground-floor bar atmosphere paired with a quieter, booth-lined upper dining room for relaxed conversations.

Can get very noisy downstairs especially on a weekend, they have tables upstairs if you want it a little quieter.

  • Ideal Pre-Show Drinks & Bites

Its central King Street position and lively bar setup make it an ideal launchpad for curated cocktails and bites before catching a movie or show.

We found the atmosphere perfect for the occasion; there were some really interesting drinks and the little snacks to share were a taste bomb!

  • Chocolate Pudding Made with Soya Sauce

The desert was a chocolate pudding made with soya sauce. I know it sounds weird but the soya gave it a rich dark complexity that was a bit like golden syrup. Really creative cooking and an interesting dish.
