Song Fang Khong dishes out unapologetic Lao and Isan cooking from a modest room steps from Fairfield Station. Two decades in, the kitchen still operates with home-style directness. Locals line up for the rice-dense Lao sausage—crispy outside, punched through with lemongrass and garlic—paired with a weave basket of sticky rice. The pounded green papaya salad brings serious heat, balanced by raw cabbage and water spinach. Remember to bring cash before sitting down, then dig into plates of charred grilled pork neck and tender ox tongue.
