About Asako

Tucked off the waterfront in Mortlake, Asako turns out remarkably fresh sushi and thick-cut sashimi without the downtown fuss. Mortlake regulars drop in for clean, balanced Japanese comfort—from golden, oil-free tempura to crisp karaage and fragrant truffle oil edamame. The kitchen cuts its raw fish thick and serves generous chirashi bowls topped with slices that clearly skip the deep freezer. Out on the covered patio, staff flick on the outdoor heaters so you can settle in with your dog over a deluxe bento and a pour of sake.

  • Covered, heated dog-friendly patio: Heaters warm the covered outdoor space, welcoming guests dining with dogs.
  • Truffle-accented dishes: Appetizers feature modern twists like truffle sashimi carpaccio and truffle oil edamame alongside crisp lotus chips.
  • Bento and chirashi sets: Lunch bentos and generous chirashi bowls offer fresh sashimi and hot mains in neat sets.

  • Inventive truffle-infused Japanese delicacies

Aromatic truffle oil paired with fresh sashimi carpaccio and seasoned edamame elevates traditional starters into memorable dishes.

The standout dish for me was the sashimi carpaccio with truffle; the earthy aroma of the truffle paired with the fresh fish created such a unique and memorable combination of flavors.
