How can I combine Taronga Zoo and Manly by ferry in one day?

I am confused about public and private ferry services and want to avoid an awkward return via Circular Quay.

    Buy only the tickets required for the actual legs and check the last return from Manly. Leave enough time for the zoo closing routine and the walk to the wharf.
