How can I choose a Sydney hotel with a worthwhile harbour view?

Consider location and transport alongside the view. A good waterfront walk or ferry ride can deliver the panorama without committing your whole accommodation budget to it.

Check whether the view is from the room, a shared terrace or a bar. Compare the extra nightly cost with how much time you expect to spend in the room.

Look for a named room category and recent guest photographs from that category. 'Harbour view' can mean a partial angle, so ask the hotel exactly what the booked room type overlooks.
